How to get into the WSOP 2007

Satellites

All of the major poker rooms offer satellites into the World Series of Poker Main Event. A satellite is a multi-table tournament or single table tournament in which all entrants put in a smaller buy-in to send usually one player to the WSOP. Larger satellites give out multiple WSOP packages. This way good poker players can get to the WSOP very cheap without having to spend the entire buy-in themselves.

One of the best ways to get to the WSOP for free is by using player points to play in satellites. Online poker rooms like PokerStars.com give away millions of dollars in WSOP 2007 packages using player point satellites.

Shoot Outs

When a poker room offers a shootout, the winner will usually receive an entire WSOP 2007 package. This package includes the $10,000 buy-in, hotel, airfare, and spending money. The format for a shoot out starts with usually between 75-81 players. Each player will put in $155 into the pot making it big enough for the winner to receive a WSOP package.

In an 81 person shoot out, all entrants put up a $155 + $10 fee for the house. This brings the player prize pool to a total of $12,555. The WSOP 2007 Package is worth $12,000, so the remaining prize pool will be awarded to the last 2 or 3 players that finished in the shoot out.

Once all players have paid the buy-in, 9 tables consisting of nine players each are assembled. Each table is played as their own winner take all sit-n-go. Once all 9 original tables have determined a winner, all of the winners are now combined as the final table. Now remaining players play for the WSOP 2007 package. PokerStars.com is the best online poker room to win a seat via a shoot out.

Free Entries and Small Buy-ins

A great way for an online poker room to get new players is by offering very cheap or even free WSOP packages. Poker rooms will give player points for playing at the tables, and they will allow you to use them for buy-ins for satellites to the WSOP.
