PokerFishTracker.com is operated by a successful online poker player who tracks the limits, screen name, and playing style of other poker players. Information about other players makes up the "Fish List" for each online poker room. The fish list is formed to help out players know how to play against other opponents even before they sit down at the poker table. To learn more about PokerFishTracker.com and how it is operated, please view the
PFT FAQ page.
SCREEN NAME
Once PFT finds a weak player we immediately take down their screen name. This is the name that you can use to find a player at your favorite online poker room. Players that have been added since the most recent update will have the symbol
*new* next to their screen name. Think of PFT as a large buddy list filled with easy players to beat. PFT is designed so that anyone can find the type of players they want to play. All screen names located in the Fish Lists are only used when finding players on the tables and no other information about these players is available.
LIMITS $
When a players are tracked at PFT the limits they usually play are also recorded. Most of the players are from the "No Limit Hold'em" (NL) tables, because NL is where to find the biggest money losers, but there are also fixed limit holdem fish avaiable. Use the "
LIMITS $" feature to find the limits you are comfortable playing these players at. Usually the bigger poker fish are found at the smaller limits but there are also many "high stakes" players on the fish lists as well.
RANK
Once we have located a player, they are ranked on a scale from "1" to "5". A relatively weaker player will be given a "1", while the biggest fish are given a "5". A player ranked with "4" or "5" tends to be the biggest suckers. A player that is ranked higher can be very unpredictable, and might be able to be a winning poker player. Use extreme caution when playing a high ranked player becuase they are capable of anything.
TYPE
Calling Station = CS :
A calling station is a weak player who will always call any bet put out by the other players. They will usually never raise, and will play many hands. A CS will call your bets, so it is better to never bluff this player. Waiting for big hands and then "value" betting is the best way to take money from a CS.
Maniac :
These players love action. They are usually in the middle of really big pots, and love to "raise it up". They play far too many hands, and usually have the worst of it when all the money goes in. If you wait out a maniac, you can win a lot of money against them.
Weak and Weak/Tight :
This player is exceptionally careful and will fold to almost any bet you make. They fold so much that you can win a lot of money by taking all the little pots from them. They will almost never bet unless they have the "nuts" or close to it. These players will give you a lot of money, but usually over a period of time.
Loose :
This type of player has bad starting hand selection, and will play many big pots. They will call/make a lot of bets and don’t like to fold.
Combined styles and +/- :
Some players might have combined styles of play and we rank them on both. PFT will then give them a "+" or "-" on which style is more or less like them. For example: Loose/CS- means that the player is really loose for hand selection, and is also a calling station. The "-" means that they are less of a calling station than the "average" ranked calling station.
